Experiment: back to twitter
Once upon a time, I was at twitter, mostly read-only, but there were interesting people, real conversations, some useful posts and threads. Eventually, it became worse. After X-isation, it became even worse. I still read some people via no-login alternatives, but that’s it.
Also there were some negative habits connected to it. And I want to know how twitter changed, especially with Babylon auto-translator, how people changed and most importantly how I changed.
I registered account, added people to the list without following them and sometimes read “For you” feed. Sometimes at first. Because from scratch it was feed full of AI and other trend bullshit, baits, ragebaits, ads, gurus, etc.
After some time, algorithm understood my topics and language, but there was still so much trash in the feed. And so bad habits are back. Impulsive scrolling, feed refresh, etc. Meh.
Accounts I was reading also … Shitposts, participation in rage threads, minimum of useful content or interesting life updates. There are some interesting people, but they are changed too. And also… there is golden rule of every social network: if you follow someone for a while, you accidentally know something, that will push you away from that person. Oversharing, participation in topics a person knows almost nothing about (“my very not humble opinion), language and tone, same baits.
Babylon twitter was good at first, but it’s the same shitpost, just translated from another language. But piracy conflict was fun.
I changed – I read more critically, without emotional engagement, skip ragebaits, but habits are still there. Or this whole system is so perfect, that it catalyzes them at sonic speed. Better to avoid it completely, ROI is ultra low.
And so I quit. Closed account, cleared browser history. Bye-bye, won’t miss.
